- Fig. 12 - This diagram presents the more recent and accurate findings of modern brain studies. The outer part of the brain has only a few known functional areas. We know the specific functions of less than one-third of the outer brain. The few known functional areas deal with sensory and motor experiences and not with personality traits, like self-esteem or amativeness. The brain probably acts as a whole in most complex forms of behavior.
