Tawan-tawan tana’ (medicinal plants)
- Description:
- The middleman is weighing the products for trade during tamu (barter trade). It looks like he is holding a medicinal plant, probably telenga (herbs). Bigger containers increase a man's attractiveness to women, and thus young men attempt to make their containers as large as possible; tying 2-3 small bubut nyateng (baskets of resin) together to make it big. One person can usually carry up to five bubut in one trip, but must put them down to return with more. It may take 2-3 weeks to travel from the jungle to tamu.
