- Letter from Albert E. Kahn and Rubin Saltzman to Louis Lipsky asking for JPFO representation in the Interim Committee of the American Jewish Conference, after having gained admittance for membership to the Conference at its Second Session in Pittsburgh. Date of request is three months later. Saltzman notes that the JPFO has 46,000 members and asks that the request be discussed and acted upon by the Interim Committee at their upcoming February 25th meeting.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
